Creating Email Accounts For Your Website

Wednesday, November 5th 2008, by Adam Barger

If you've upgraded to a WebStarts Pro Account and added a domain name to your site then you probably want to have a professional looking email address that matches your domain name. Using a free email account for business puposes is often times viewed as being unprofessional. A free email account says your business doesn't have enough money to get it's own domain name. That's not a message you want to send to your clients. The good news is that setting up a professional looking email address that matches your domain name is easy.

If you're not sure what I mean by an email that matches your domain name here is an example. Our website address is http://WebStarts.com and my email address is adam@webstarts.com. Having an email like webstarts@gmail.com would just not convey a professional business presence on the web.

When you upgrade to a WebStarts Pro account and get a domain name for your website you can configure up to 50 of these custom email addresses. You can use these addresses to setup different employees and/or departments within your company. In this article I will explain to you how to setup these email accounts step by step.

Step 1: Login to your account and click on the mail icon located on the my account dashboard

Login to your account and click on the mail icon located on the my account dashboard. The mail icon is a picture of the envelope. Please note that you must upgrade to a WebStarts Pro Account and setup your domain name before you can begin creating your email accounts. It can take up to 48 hours for your mail account to become active after choosing a domain name for your website and you will be notified by email when the process is complete.

Step 2: Login to your primary email address and choose the option to manage this domain.

After you've clicked on the email icon you'll need to login with your primary email address. Your primary email address username and password was emailed to you when your domain name was configured. Your username will be whatever you entered as your first name while signing up for your WebStarts account. Your password will be the same password you use to login to your WebStarts account. Once you're logged in click on the 'Mange This Domain' link located in the upper right hand corner.

Step 3: Choose the option to create new user.

After clicking the manage this domain link a new window will open with your admin tools. Locate the link labeled 'Create new users'. Click on the link and you will then be able to enter the first and last name you would like to use with the new email account. You will also be abel to choose a username. Whatever you choose for their username is what their email address will be. For example: (username@webstarts.com). You can then choose to use the temporary password generated by the email program or set your own password. Once you've completed these steps click the button labled 'Create new user' and the account is created. You can then repeat this process to create additional email accounts.
