Tuesday, November 4th 2008, by Adam Barger

Have you ever made a web page that you didn't want just anybody to be able to see? Maybe you have a club and need a website to recruit members but need a secure area where club members can have access to information that need not be broadcast on the website. With WebStarts you can now create a password protected webpage allowing you to keep some contents of your page private. To password protect your website with WebStarts it will require you to upgrade to a Pro Account. Of course you'll want to do that either way if you want a professional presence on the web.

Here are the step by step instructions for creating a password protected webpage in your WebStarts Pro Account.

Step 1: Sign up for a WebStarts Pro account

To use the password protection feature you will need to upgrade to a WebStarts Pro Account. A WebStarts Pro account gives you everything you need to have a professional online presence. It includes a custom domain name, matching email addresses, search engine submission, and much more. You can upgrade to a WebStarts Pro Account by logging in and click on the '

Step 2: Navigate to the page you want to add password protection to in the editor view.

Once you're logged into your WebStarts account choose the option to edit the page you wish to add the password protection to. After the page has loaded click on File>Settings>Password Protection on the toolbar.

Step 3: Choose your password and click the option to password protect.

Now that you're in the password protection admin you need to choose the password you wish your site visitors to enter in order to view the page. The username will be whatever email is associated with the account. After you've chosen your password select the option to password protect from the drop down box that appears. Click 'OK' and your page will now be password protected. Site visitors who attempt and access this page from your website will be required to enter the email address associated with your account along with the password.
